Re: Kidnap Johnny Depp
Below is my example of goal trouble-shooting using the process previously outlined.
The Goal: To post here, on Gorgeous Life Coaching blog, weekly (aside from reviews of time at ICA)
The Problem(s): Lack of things to write about.
The Brainstorm: my wellness journey, why vegan, my history with mental illness, addictions (sex, caffeine, etc),book reviews, about my inspirations/people I admire, exercises from self-help books, exercises from ICA, my progress, stories, art, poetry/songs, playing The Sims 3 (reward), snack food as a reward, soda as a reward, Wicca/metaphysics, CCOR/100 day reality challenge, raw foods, Natural Hygiene, photography, recovery, wisdom from coaches, why I have coaches, internet (reward), bragging (reward), website/podcast reviews, Law of Attraction.
The Solutions: Rewards– The Sims 3 and other games, internet time, pleasure reading, bragging rights! Ideas– my wellness journey, why vegan, my history with mental illness, health, addictions, book reviews, about my inspirations, exercises from self-help books, exercises from ICA, my progress, Wicca/metaphysics, the 100 day reality challenge, raw foods, Natural Hygiene, recovery, wisdom from coaches/clients, about my coaches, why I have coaches, website/podcast reviews, Law of Attraction.
The Reward System: 30 minutes of either gaming or internet OR 50 pages of book, only 1 reward per post, no saving up rewards, bragging rights always apply and never expire.

Kidnap Johnny Depp
Perhaps I’m the only one, but I doubt it… Sometimes I have the best of intentions and plan things out a bit, but they still don’t get done. Such as this blog! I want to post weekly and do more than reviews, but I still haven’t done weekly posts and this will be my first non-reviewing post!
So, what do you do when things don’t go as planned?
- You need to figure out why things aren’t going so well! If you don’t know the problem, how can you fix it?
- Then you can brainstorm solutions when you do know what is blocking your progress. It’s best to use a technique called Green-Light Thinking. When you brainstorm with Green-Light Thinking, you do not censor your ideas with thoughts like “oh that’s ridiculous” or “that will never work!” When I learned this technique, the person teaching me made this stick when I suggested ‘kidnap Johnny Depp’ as a solution and he said “We could do that,” and wrote it down. This silly suggestion still counted because we used Green-Light Thinking! (If you’re wondering why I need to write silly ideas down too, it’s because they just MIGHT have some use! See the next step…)
- After that, it’s okay to use your left-brain and analyze your ideas more. Keep in mind, however, that even ‘kidnapping Johnny Depp’ might be able to be used. No I’m no suggesting you steal away hot men for the sake of your goal, but perhaps you could reward yourself for completing the goal or a step with a Johnny Depp movie! Remember that solutions include rewards to keep you going toward the goal too!
- Okay, now separate the solutions that are rewards and the solutions that you need to take steps toward for your end goal.
- Now you have two lists of workable solutions! One will motivate you and the other will help you get to your motivating rewards and your end goal! Begin applying the workable solutions and have fun!
- For rewards, you might also like to set up a reward system! Make sure big rewards are earned, but also reward little tasks. Remember that the smallest things are sometimes the best in life! Life is in the details.
Did that help my fellow blocked friends and blog-readers at all? Writing down steps to help has helped me! Now I’m going to take these steps! I’ll be back with some examples soon!
Weeks 2 and 3 (quick) Review
Week 2 did not go as planned. I wanted to complete all 4 unfinished classes and instead I only completed 1 (“Coaching – what is it?” 2/2). Honestly, it’s probably a good thing that I stepped back from taking so many classes, but now I feel behind because I have started so many modules that I have not finished!
Week 3 was another “part 1″ week, so I took one new class: “Confidence” 1/2. I also completed a part 2 class, “Self Directed Learning”, on Sunday, but that was one that I needed to make up anyways.
I will be posting more, at least once a week, and more detailed posts starting this week. I apoloqize for the lack of updates. Last Monday I had to go to the oral surgeon about an infection I got from my wisdom teeth removal in April. Then, today, I went back again with dry socket and will return on Friday. Needless to say, the mouth drama has been a pain in many ways!
Week 1 Review
Hey everyone and welcome to my first weekly review.
Every week, on Monday, I will write a review of the previous seven days in this blog. These weekly reviews will be a reflection of my studies at ICA and also a review of my overall performance in relation to my ICA study-time.
From Monday, April 19th through Sunday, April 25th was my first week at International Coach Academy (ICA). I did 6 Level 1 classes and 1 “Get Connected” call for a total of 7 teleconferences at ICA in my first 7 Days. I am very proud of myself that I did so much. However, I have to be careful not to do too much and I also must keep up with my studies at University of Phoenix.
Monday: Monday is the day I was enrolled at ICA. (I tried enrolling Saturday, but there was an issues with my latest deposit not going through yet and I had to wait until the bank was open to check with them. Turns out my money was in on Monday and there was no real issue.) I was so excited to get started! I made a schedule of what classes I would attend that week using my Planner Pad® (you might want to check them out, so I linked to the Planner Pad website). I also included my appointments for the week, but that’s off topic. Anyways, that night at 9pm to 10pm, I did my first call, the “Get Connected” call. Oh. My. Gods. I was so energized and pumped up that I ended up forcing myself to go to sleep at 2:30am.
“Get Connected” 1/1: This call was so inspirational. We all gave a little information about who we are and how we came to coaching before moving on to questions about the program. It was so super exciting. I loved it!
Tuesday: Before I went to sleep, but after midnight I created a Blogger blog and wrote my first post. ICA has a blog requirement, so I wanted to get started right away. Then I made myself go to sleep. With my alarm set for 7am, I woke up at 6:30am after only 4 hours of sleep feeling just a crazy energized as I did the night before. I stayed up and got ready for the day and my first official class. After class I saw my boyfriend, Randy, and then went to my DBT (more on that soon) group.
“Coaching – what is it?” 1/2: Again, I was very energized from this call. Some of my classmates had great quotes about what a coach is and how coaching isn’t just profession, but a lifestyle. Also mentioned was that coaches love life! We had homework in this class, but I will post with a more extensive review of the module later.
Wednesday: After getting more-well rested, I was ready for another day at ICA! On Wednesdays I have therapy (yes I see a therapist and think that therapy is a great process), but I also got 2 classes in later that day! One class was at 3pm and the other was at 6pm.
“Power Listening” 1/2: I got a lot out of this class. We spoke a lot about listening for what the client is not saying rather than just listening to the words.
“Values and Life Purpose” 1/2:I learned how values and passion tie into purpose here. Another interesting class.
Thursday: Thursday I got up and 6am so that I could take the 7am class. Bad. Idea. I was so sleepy still that I didn’t get much out of the class at all. However, the rest of the day was pretty relaxed.
“Self Development Plan” 1/2: I was really exited about this class but, like I said, I was still sleepy so I didn’t get much out of it…
Friday: On Friday I did some cleaning and organizing and, late at night, I ordered the ICA documents to be printed by Staples.
“Self Directed Learning” 1/2: Major amounts of information was learned in this class! I took two pages of notes from the call!
Saturday: There are not Level 1 ICA classes on Saturday, so I didn’t do any that day. I did, however, clean even more (!) and pick up my printing. A bit over 300 pages was under $30 at Staples, just so you all know. Anyways I actually got a lot done on Saturday, cleaning-wise, and I also got some work done for school at University of Phoenix.
Sunday: Sunday was grocery shopping and such, then (at 6pm) I did my first part 2 class. This completed my first full module.
“Self Development Plan” 2/2: This was my best class yet! Not only did I learn a lot, but I also got a lot of website suggestions from fellow classmates! I love finding great new sites, so this was awesome!
